Truly the finest close-up magician for mingling with guests at weddings, private functions and banquets.
His hands speak magic. Your eyes won’t believe it!
Dean Metcalfe: brilliant close-up magician available for hire for your exclusive event in the London area.
The remarkable close-up magician Dean Metcalfe has performed at exclusive venues in London, the South East and in fact right across the UK and Worldwide. His uniquely stylish sleight of hand magic is ideal for upmarket weddings, banquets and most private occasions.
Dean always leaves his audience gasping and shaking their heads in disbelief. “But I was watching!” they will say. “I didn’t blink for a second. And…it just disappeared!“.
Yes, prepared to be amazed and left wondering for days afterwards how on earth Dean does what he does.
Dean’s fluidity of sleight of hand only derives from countless years of perfecting his close-up art. Coins glimmer and fade, flames and cigarettes disappear, everyday objects emerge from nowhere and slip away unseen.
No, you won’t believe your eyes. But yes, it really did happen. That’s what Dean does best – weaving a spell of visual disbelief right before your eyes.
So if you’ve got an exclusive private event coming up in the London area (and beyond) and you want your guests to be utterly impressed, look no further than the close-up magician Dean Metcalfe!
Dean truly is The Master Manipulator. In fact, his skills are so good that he has been the Magician’s choice to perform for his peers countless times.
Close-up magic in and around London
Occasionally, Dean gets to do something a little bit different. Here he is performing a little street magic in London for the London Fashion Week where he met some great characters. Dean is also shown entertaining staff (and customers) with his mind-blowing close-up magic at a London Bentley dealership. However, as good a magician as Dean is, he just could not make a Bentley disappear. Or perhaps more to the point, he couldn’t make the big cheque appear in order to make the Bentley disappear! Nevertheless, Dean had a great time around London.
What is close-up magic?
Close-up magic is a type of magic that is performed up close and personal. In other words, the magic is performed just inches from your eyes – right under your nose in fact! It consists of visual illusions, misdirection and sleight of hand and in some instances, it allows for audience interaction. The magician uses everyday objects in his illusion – objects such as keys, rings, lighters, wallets and coins.
The skill of the magician is very much in focus here. Guests watching every move he or she makes feeling certain they will discover how it’s all done. But top magicians like Dean Metcalfe never give anything away. And that’s what makes close-up magic all the more intriguing and fascinating! How do they do it!?
Close up magic can be performed exactly when and where required. Usually this is either in a mix and mingle style or at table settings.
Table magic, as its name suggests, is performed while guests are seated around a table and, as such, tends not to be quite as close up as in a mix and mingle setting. It requires a different style of performance as generally everyone around the table wants to be in on the action. This means the magician will need tricks/magic that plays to everyone, whether they’re sat a couple of feet away or 10 feet away.
This magic tends to be more visual in performance with the magician acting much like a stand-up entertainer.
Mix and Mingle Magic
Mix and mingle is a more personal and interactive form of magic where the magician entertains people in a stand up social setting. As your guests are stood in groups talking, drinking and eating, the magician will socialise and engage with them. And, once he has their attention, with sleight of hand he will skilfully perform a little magic leaving his small audience stunned. Even the most sceptical of people are usually impressed. The expressions on people’s faces, their raw reaction to what just happened is what magicians enjoy most. The fact that Dean Metcalfe is still passionate about close-up magic after more than 30 years is testament to his immense skill and unsurpassed reputation.
